Utställningen

It is 60 years now since the Second World War ended. This gives renewed relevance to the issue of Sweden and the Holocaust. Sweden was not a nation at war but nonetheless contributed to developments – a piece in the historic puzzle that led up to the Holocaust and eventually made it possible.

Recent research delivers a complex picture of Sweden ’s relationship to Nazism and the Holocaust. The project will reflect this new perspective from several angles, without claiming to deliver the ultimate truth.

An exhibition produced by Roy Andersson and Kalle Boman from Studio 24 will open in November 2005. The exhibition will deal with Sweden and the Holocaust based on a number of core themes.

During 2006 schools will be invited to visit the exhibition and take part in innovative educational activities.

The entire project can be monitored, commented and discussed on a special website. The grand narrative is complemented by the accounts of individuals, making it our own history. It encompasses stories of good and evil – of resistance and collaboration, of impossible choices.

The programmes included in the “ Sweden and the Holocaust” project consists of debates, seminars and lectures in Stockholm and other venues throughout Sweden . We also organise special seminars for teachers.

Sweden and the Holocaust will continue throughout 2005-2007.
